Details

The site previously formed the Stonehouse Hospital campus but the hospital buildings have all now been demolished and the site cleared in the preparation for development. A modern replacement hospital facility has been provided on an adjacent site to the north east.

The site is irregular in shape and uneven in places with some embankments. Generally, it is in rough grass but with some copses of trees and bushes. A number of the former internal estate roads for the hospital and areas of hardstanding also remain on site.

Planning

Application reference: HM/13/0118

Planning status: Outline Planning Permission

Planning authority: South Lanarkshire Council

Application details:

The site obtained planning permission for residential development in 2007. The consent was then extended in 2010 and more recently in March 2013.

As part of the marketing process, Montagu Evans held informal discussions with South Lanarskire Council Planning Department to ascertain their views on redevelopment of the site. The Council forsee the predominant land use as residential but they have also indicated interest in and support for a small food store.
